A Happy Saturday Announcement

I am adding significant engagement to short-form ideas, next-ups, and commentary on personal finance topics to Personal Finance Economics. We call it “Notes.” I expect to share a new note daily. The space is wide open for your comments, news questions, and exchanges. Even better: no ads!

Where do Notes Reside?

Notes will appear on the app in your home area. I think the Substack app is fabulous. The screenshot below is an example. You can control whether you want to be notified when there is activity on Notes. Here is your guide to changing your notifications.

Why Am I All-In with Notes Now?

There are three reasons. First, I have ideas and thoughts that are better for a quick, short-form post. Notes do not come to your inbox, while long-form posts will continue to arrive. Second, a lot of personal finance advice needs to be corrected and some needs to be affirmed. Third, I am experiencing a substantial uptick in the number of “followers,” those who are not yet subscribers, and Notes keeps them better informed.

What must be happening on the SMU campus today? Not that, surely. Study, study, study…..It is finals week. In the spirit of finals week and the beginning of Notes, I have just posted a question I am including on my final exam for my life-cycle economics students. Here it is. What is your answer?
